My Lovecraftian fantasy, Corvus Rex: The Substance of Darkness, is available again on Kindle after some time out of print, and I hope to have the paperback back in circulation soon. The thing about this book is that it was written in a very experimental style, kind of like Interview with the Vampire, except the narrator is directly speaking to you and jumps from present to past tense, and other perspectives rely on other characters in the room making interjections of their own. So in many ways it’s one huge conversation.

I’ve gone through a lot with this book. I shot a trailer for it before it came out, moved to New Mexico and then back to North Carolina while I was completing it, then went through a divorce right after it debuted (which didn’t help my relationship with it for a while there), and I had begun to get a bit of impostor syndrome over it. My solution had been to consider rewriting it as a more epic historical fantasy that worked in a chronological order. To do so would change the structure I’d planned so much, but it was a task I had wanted to take on just to challenge myself. After a lot of discussion with friends and my agent, who still wants to pitch it as is to a traditional publisher, I finally came around to having some faith in it, and realizing I wrote a pretty darned good book and the style of writing is more sustainable than I thought. So here it is, back again, and I’m feeling ready to dive into its sequels again.

If you haven’t read this one, please consider heading over to Amazon and grabbing it on Kindle, or keep an eye out for the re-release of the print edition.
